DJ: How to connect Windows/Serato to the CDJ/DJM

Windows:

  • Switch on your CDJ & DJM (Rear control).
  • Check that the CDJ audio outputs are connected to the DJM ‘line in’ input (channel 2 and 3) using the red & white RCA cables.

STEP 1:

  • Connect the 2 cables from the CDJ's to your Laptop. (Use a HUB)
  • Connect another cable from the DJM (A-B port) to your Laptop.
  • Set the knobs on A or B Laptop mode on the DJM.
  • Make sure if you choose port ‘B’ you also switch to channel ‘B’.

 

 

STEP 2:

  • Download the CDJ 3000 Drivers from the pioneer website
  • Download the USB Connection (Link Export) Driver for Windows 10 & Audio driver for Windows.

STEP 3:

  • Download the DJM A9 Drivers from the pioneer website
  • Download DJM- A9 Driver for Windows & Pro DJ Link Bridge for WIN.

 

IMPORTANT:

You need a license or subscription from Serato DJ Pro. They offer a 14 day trial.

Otherwise it's impossible to connect the CDJ & DJM to Serato.

 

STEP 4:

  • Open Serato
  • Sign in on your account.

If this doesn't show:

Go on the top right on the circle icon and click Login.

 

STEP 5:

Your browser will open on the website of Serato

 

  • Follow the steps to sign in & a pop up will show.
  • Click on Open Serato DJ Pro.

 

STEP 6:

  • Go to Preferences on the top right corner 
  • Go to audio

 

STEP 7:

Select Channel 1 and 2

STEP 8:

Once you connect the decks with your laptop the following will appear on the CDJ'S.

  • Choose Deck 2 on the left CDJ
  • Choose Deck 3 on the right CDJ

 

  • Set The ‘balance’ knob to the center position (12h) for a balanced output level.
  • Adjust the ‘trim’ knob of each channel so that the signal does not exceed 0, to prevent distortion.
  • Gradually increase the master to send sound to the fronts.
